Aeromonas salmonicida: A very rare but potential threat to human
نویسندگان
چکیده
Aeromonas salmonicida is a ubiquitous Gram-negative bacterium. It mainly found in aquatic ecosystem. most common pathogen salmonids. Reported infections due to A. humans are very rare. A 5-year-old child admitted with fever since more than week and loose motions. The blood culture showed growth of salmonicida. responded well intravenous antibiotics discharged after 5 days admission. rare but potential for human infections. Modern diagnostic methods being effective diagnosing it empirical (Cephalosporin) helpful treating it.

Aeromonas salmonicida resistance to complement-mediated killing.
The resistance of Aeromonas salmonicida to complement-mediated killing was investigated by using different strains and their isogenic mutants that had been previously characterized for their surface components. We found that the classical complement pathway is involved in serum killing of susceptible A. salmonicida strains, while the alternative complement pathway seems not to be involved. All ...

Growth under conditions of iron-restriction and the production of siderophores was examined in 21 typical and 14 atypical strains of Aeromonas salmonicida. With the exception of one atypical strain, all strains grew and multiplied in the presence of the high-affinity iron chelators ethylenediamine di(o-hydroxyphenylacetic acid), alpha, alpha'-dipyridyl or transferrin. Chrome azurol S agar was u...
متن کاملAcquisition of iron by Aeromonas salmonicida.
The ability of six typical and three atypical strains of Aeromonas salmonicida to sequester Fe3+ from the high-affinity iron chelators ethylenediaminedihydroxy-phenylacetic acid, lactoferrin, and transferrin was determined. Typical strains were readily able to sequester Fe3+ and used two different mechanisms. One mechanism was inducible and appeared to involve production of a low-molecular-weig...
متن کاملIsolation of oxidase-negative Aeromonas salmonicida
The first outbreak of dlsease due to an atyplcal Aeromonas salmonicida among turbot Scophthalmus maximus (L . ) in Denmark is reported. The causal organism was oxidase-negative, non-pigmented, and slow-growing. Additionally it differed from the typical strains in a number of biochemical characters. The mortality among turbot in the farm was high but was responsive to antlmlcrobial therapy.
متن کاملAeromonas salmonicida: updates on an old acquaintance.
Aeromonas salmonicida is the oldest known infectious agent to be linked to fish disease and constitutes a major bacterial pathogen of fish, in particular of salmonids. This bacterium can be found almost worldwide in both marine and freshwater environments and has been divided into several sub-species. In this review, we present the most recent developments concerning our understanding of this p...
